COMMUNITY WORK/ACTIVISM

Over the years I have created and organized many community fundraising events, from a month-long music festival in the UK in 2001 that funded an entire anti-poaching unit to protect the African Elephant through the charity Elefriends, to a Winter Solstice benefit in Ashland, OR in 2016 that raised $4K for Grandmother Agnes Baker Pilgrim (aka Grandma Aggie), the late Takelma elder and oldest of the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. From 2009-2010 I was an active member of Transition Town Brixton, a part of the community-led initiative Transition Town Network  teaching Nonviolent Communication, facilitating The Work That Reconnects, and co-facilitating inter-faith dialogs in the search for common ground between people of different backgrounds and beliefs. I have worked as a mediator for families, intentional communities, and environmental activist groups and have facilitated Restorative Circles a peacemaking process that supports the restoring of trust and connection when a conflict has arisen. I have led workshops and trainings with marginalized groups including youth on probation, native youth, veterans, and the homeless community, and have worked as a prison volunteer. From 2016-2020 I traveled throughout Oregon and California driving almost 100% fossil fuel free on recycled waste vegetable oil with my project The Green Road, offering my work to groups and communities within a gifting paradigm. I see the turbulent times we are living in as an invitation for each of us to come into spiritual employment in service to the healing of our world and am grateful for the opportunity to facilitate work that fosters and nurtures compassion, resilience, and wisdom in these unprecedented times of uncertainty and change.

Raising funds I was an active member of Transition Town Brixton, a community-led initiative within the Transition Town Network, teaching workshops in Nonviolent Communication and co-facilitating local inter-faith dialogs to find common ground between people of different backgrounds. I have worked as a prison volunteer and led trainings and circles for a diversity of groups including youth on probation, native youth, veterans, eco-villages, and the homeless community. I have worked as a mediator for couples and families, and have designed and conducted life cycle ceremonies for individuals, couples, and intentional communities. In 2016-2010 I launched a project of "living and giving on the road" called The Green Road, and traveled through Oregon and California for four years leading community grief rituals, transformative workshops, and re-wilding retreats.

My work to support the transition to a healthy, sustainable, regenerative and peaceable culture for over a decade, including reviving the Heart and Soul group of Transition Town Brixton, a community-led initiative within the Transition Town Network, teaching workshops in NVC and co-facilitating local inter-faith dialogs in the search to find common ground between people of different backgrounds. I have worked as a prison volunteer and as a mediator for families, activist groups, and intentional communities, and have created and held trainings and circles for a diversity of groups including youth on probation, native youth, veterans, eco-villages, and the homeless community. In 2011 I adopted a lifestyle of voluntary simplicity. Between 2016-2010 I traveled through Oregon and California facilitating rituals and workshops to nurture connection, inspire creativity, and foster resilience through my lifestyle project The Green Road.

During my time in London I was an active member of Transition Town Brixton, was a prison volunteer, and facilitated multi-faith . Since living in the US I have organized fundraisers, rallies, and public gatherings for environmental causes, mediated between activist groups and facilitated healing spaces for a diversity of disadvantaged groups including youth on probation, veterans, native youth, eco-villages, and the homeless community. I see the turbulent times we are living in as an invitation for us to come into spiritual employment in service to the healing of our world. I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to facilitate work that fosters and nurtures compassion, resilience, and wisdom in these unprecedented times of deep uncertainty and rapid change.

I have been an activist for over thirty years. I have worked with youth on probation, advocated for the homeless community, raised tens of thousands of dollars for environmental and social justice causes. I have been a facilitator of Joanna Macy’s work for over a decade. I don’t use crystals  I don’t go to festivals except to facilitate grief work (Beloved 2018 was the first festival I have attended in over thirty years and only because Talicia asked me to assist her). I was teaching classes on spiritual bypassing twenty years ago when hardly anyone had heard of it and everyone was doing it. I marched against the Iraq War. I traveled across the US by train to join the People’s Climate March in New York in 2014 and taught workshops on the train to activists. I have been a prison volunteer. I have held healing spaces for youth on probation, native youth, and veterans. I have taught multiple Nonviolent Direct Action classes to activists - including to two of the five valve turners (Ken Ward and my friend Leonard Higgins) both of whom were responsible for cutting off the flow of tar sands oil into the US in 2016. I created and organized multiple community events to raise funds for the movement at Standing Rock and to support the work of Grandma Agnes Baker Pilgrim  I have been living off grid without electricity and running water and offering my work with individuals and groups on sliding scale, work trade, and on the gift for five years now in an attempt to withdraw as much participation as possible from a predator capitalist system upheld by oppression, exploitation and violence. I don’t shout about hardly any of this stuff publicly so people who don’t know me don’t know.
