SINGING THE WILD HEART

The Healing Power Of Lament

ONE DAY WORKSHOP

Sun, Nov 24, 2019 | 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM | Portland, OR

This event is an opportunity to remember and reclaim the healing power of grieving through sound and song. We will explore the history of this ancient and near-universal tradition, and engage practices drawn from the Finnish model of Lament as healing modality, with its roots in traditional Karelian singing, and the modern revival of Irish Keening. Through song, sound, word, and ritual gesture we will metabolize our grief into gifts of praise and beauty, deepen belonging, and find new ways to respond to the sorrows in our lives and of our world.

DRINKING FROM THE WELL

The Sacred Work of Grief

A COMMUNITY GRIEF RITUAL

Sun, Sep 22, 2019 | 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM | Portland, OR

We enter the realm of grief through many gateways, from the loss of loved ones, cultural loss, difficult life transitions, chronic illness, ancestral trauma, and from the many overwhelming troubles and sorrows of our deeply hurting and devastated world. Through ritual, storytelling, poetry, council, and song, we will explore the journey through grief as a sacred pathway to deep transformation, honoring the sense of love, loss, and longing that gives rise to our grief, and metabolizing its bitter medicine into gifts of beauty, meaning, and belonging.

TENDING THE UNRAVELING

Finding Meaning in a Troubled World

ONE DAY WORKSHOP

Sat, Sep 7, 2019 | 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM | Corvallis, OR

Mass species extinction, melting ice sheets, dying oceans, the destruction of wild habitat, the Earth's ecosystems are unraveling, and the impact on our human and other-than-human relations is devastating. How should we respond? How do we find meaning and beauty, and cultivate resilience in this dark night of the soul of humanity? Drawing from the work of deep ecologist Joanna Macy this event engages group work, ritual, storytelling, and song to explore these questions, and to cultivate creativity, resilience, and purpose in these troubled times.
