" I cannot recommend Lara highly enough, as a wise, compassionate witness and guide.

Grief yields to gratitude, for these experiences, all of them."

GRIEF SUPPORT

We enter the realm of grief through many gateways, from the death of loved ones, broken relationships, unresolved trauma, ancestral wounds, lost dreams, ill health, miscarriage, family conflicts, cultural wounding (racism, misogyny, ableism, colonialism), or from witnessing/experiencing the effects of ecological collapse and societal dysfunction. All of these situations can give rise to feelings of acute sorrow, shock, rage, despair, numbness, anxiety, and overwhelm. Grief can arise from an experience of loss in the past, a crisis in the present, or anticipation of loss in the future.

Yet, our modern western culture is largely grief-illiterate and death-phobic, and natural ways of responding to loss and sorrow are often pathologized with the focus on finding a solution to our grief rather than understanding and honoring it. Family, friends and colleagues may become distant and awkward as they wrestle with how to be present to you in your experience. You may have received the message that you should be moving on from your grief rather than moving through it. You may feel overwhelmed, isolated, or confused as you navigate this difficult passage.

Instead of teaching you how to get rid of your grief I will help you to develop courage, trust, and compassion in the midst of it. I offer a radically accepting environment where you can begin to gently open to all the ways in which grief is moving in you, sharing perspectives and practices that will show you how to grieve by honoring what was lost, and how to fully participate in your life and feel safe in the world again after your experience of loss. Grief is not a disease to be cured. It is a rite of passage, and has the potential to be a deeply transformative and sacred journey.

Sessions are typically 60-90 minutes long and take place by phone. It is important to me that integrative, holistic, therapeutic care be accessible to all, and not just to those with abundant financial resources. Therefore I operate a sliding scale and offer pro bono sessions, as needed, for those with low income and limited resources. For more information about my work, my rates, to discuss your needs, and for any questions please contact me to book an initial free consultation. I also offer in-person grief work intensives that can be tailored to your specific needs. Read more here.

"In the groundless openness of sorrow, there is a wholeness of presence and a deep natural wisdom."
